A Fragrant Presence

Chicken parmesean was a success with the boys! Phil insisted that we make rice with our meal, but it went untouched.  Our rule was girls cook & boys clean, and they willingly accepted! :) We had affirmation time for Sniader as a part of the celebration for his birthday. It was amazing too see how all of the others are encouraged by his presence and the impact he's made on everyone at Casa G. Phil reflected on Snaider's spiritual growth and maturity in the last year. We gave all the boys presents which were Tshirt we had brought from the states. They loved them and were even wearing them today, que guapo! The boys even taught us a little something last night, how to salsa dance! Along with learning the basic steps, we both found out that we actually have zero sense of rythme.

Anyways, it has been busy! Today we taught English to a few of the guys, in which we feel like we learned just as much or even more than they did with our Spanish. We cleaned, bought new dishes for the house!  It was definitely a busy day.

A theme that has been kind of running through our minds since before we left was the word fragrance.  We have been experiencing what it means to be a fragrant offering these last couple of days.  I think sometimes we can get so caught up in wanting to serve and serve, and so we get our minds off of who we are serving.  The serving becomes how we want to selfishly impact our experience rather than serving our Father.  To be a fragrance of Christ, we must freely be in His presence.. be open to go and do, but also be willing to just sit and be still. There are down times and busy times, so we pray that our focus remains on serving God by being a fragrance rather than a toxic fragrance that pushes limits.

Tomorrow is filled with another busy day, we will keep you updated!

The dinner we prepared!

On our way to the supermarket to buy dishes for the house!
