Living Abandoned for Christ

On Monday, we decided to literally embrace God's creation by going to the Teleferico, which would bring us to the top of Mount Pichincha.  We hiked around, met someone that actually went to the very top, and rode the roller coaster "in the clouds." During our time, we reflected on God's beautiful creation. We were in awe of how high up we were, how big the city was but also how small everything looked from above.

A lot of the time, we look at our troubles and can't fathom how God would possibly help us, let alone trust Him completely in every situation of life.  We like to be in control; it is our nature...our money, relationships, time, etc.

So what do we allow God to be in control of?

As we strive for a comfortable life, we are tightening the control on our lives thus avoiding God's direction.  To live a life abandoned for Christ is to have faith in His direction and control.  When we were on the mountain, we saw how small we really are and how big God is. So it comes down to faith, are you willing to give up your control and let God take over?

"'He replied, "You have little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.  The men were amazing and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and waves obey him!"' -Romans 8:26-27

"Life is a winding and troubled road. . . . God is not just showing up after the trouble and cleaning it up. He is plotting the course and managing the troubles with far-reaching purposes for our good and for the glory of Jesus Christ" -John Piper
